Workshop Day at Shaker Village is part of a four-day Maine Festival of American Music - June 19 through June 22, 2019. The United Society of Shakers welcomes the Portland String Quartet as music directors for the festival's 14th season to celebrate American music and composers within the context of the world's great chamber music, including the beauty and simplicity of Shaker Song. Coaching sessions mixed with rehearsal times prepare each group for performance in the culminating master class held in the 1794 historic Shaker Meeting House. Participants may apply as individuals or as complete ensembles and can choose a selection from the full literature for study and performance. The Workshop Day fee is $80 pp, payable to the United Society of Shakers upon acceptance. Violinists Dean Stein and Ronald Lantz, violist Julia Adams, and cellist Andrew Mark are the coaches for this intensive and rewarding chamber music experience.
