Dvořák: The Chamber Music Survey with Martinů Quartet

Mark the date: this Sunday, September the 23rd! The Martinů Quartet will be performing three wonderful pieces as part of a series, “Dvořák: The Chamber Music Survey” at the Bohemian National Hall in New York. Put on by the Dvořák American Heritage Society in their third annual installment, this series explores Dvořák's chamber music.

The Martinů Quartet hails from Prague and has been acclaimed by audiences and critics from around the world. Formed in 1976 at the Prague Conservatory, they were originally known as the Havlák Quartet. The original Havlák Quartet changed its name in 1985 as a token of its commitment to promote the work of Czech Composer, Bohuslav Martinů. They have won seven prizes at prestigious international competitions and are prizewinners of the ARD Munich, Evian, Yehudi Menuhin, and The Prague Spring competitions.

Bringing it closer to home, the quartet will be in attendance at ACMP's presentation of the Helen Rice Award to Edward Guo the next day, on Monday, September 24. Also, the Quartet will be staying with a couple of our very own members during their stay in New York.
