Emerging Artist, 36 year-old Cuban pianist Harold López-Nussa headlines the Festival with his quartet on Saturday, Nov. 2nd. Harold and his brother, drummer Ruy Adrián, were born into a highly respected family in the Cuban music world.
In 2018, the Kennedy Center paid tribute to this family’s legacy. The music the López-Nussa brothers play is based on Cuban clave; it is thrilling, danceable and energetic. They will be joined at the Jazz Center by trumpeter Mayquel González and bassist Julio César González.
Within two days of release, López-Nussa’s newest album, Un Día Cualquiera was The Most Added on Jazz and College Radio in the United States.
In the past year alone, López-Nussa has performed for sold-out audiences at the Kennedy Center, SFJAZZ and numerous jazz festivals.
