Leonard Rose Centennial Tribute
The Violoncello Society of New York is paying tribute to Leonard Rose, one of the most influential cellists of our century, on the occasion of the 100th year of his birth. His artistry and mastery live through the hundreds of cellists who studied with him at The Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute and his recordings.
The tribute will feature Art Rose, Leonard Rose's son who will share his memories of growing up listening to Popper Etudes, rare film footage and audio recordings, including the rarely heard excerpts from his last recital, and a Q & A session moderated by Frederick Zlotkin.
You will be able to acquire a rare framed poster of the flyer announcing Rose's NY debut recital and possibly other memorabilia through a silent auction.
Come and enjoy this tribute. Meet others who knew him and studied with him. Enjoy your fellow cellists and lovers of the cello at a reception following the program.
This event is free for members. Guests may become a member at the door or pay a $20.00 entrance fee. All are welcome.
