Recorder at The Clearing

22 July, 2018 to 28 July, 2018

The workshop requires solid skills on C or F recorder. Daytime ensemble sessions with Pat Badger and Alyson Lewin focus on rhythmic challenges, recorder technique and ensemble blend; evenings on fun repertoire from Renaissance to jazz.

Pat Badger is Advisor to The Head of School for Arts and Equity at The Prairie School in Racine WI, the Racine Symphony's principal trumpet and a diversity consultant for the National SEED Project on Inclusive Curriculum. A long-time Clearing teacher, she received The Clearing's White Cedar award for excellence in teaching.

Alyson Lewin comes from England where she is a teacher, performer, composer, and publisher. She teaches many instruments, but her specialty is Recorder. This year's class will include a special memorial commissioned composition, composed by Alyson, in honor of Adrianne Paffrath, longtime class instructor. Alyson will be in-residence as Pat's co-teacher, so students can look forward to gaining insights into some of their Lewin favorites.
