If you’ve had a yearning to share your group’s chamber music with others but weren’t sure how or where, perhaps you’d like to join our chamber music circle?
The circle is similar to what our musical forbears might have termed a salon or a Schubertiad. We are a loosely-knit group of chamber musicians who get together most months and take turns performing for each other. On each occasion more than one group performs, so there is at least a small guaranteed audience. Members who are not performing are encouraged to come and listen. Contributions can be short or long, and of any type: string quartet, wind ensemble, piano trio, vocal music — you get the idea –basically anything members want to do. Sometimes we put together ensembles for special projects, like concerto readings. After the performances there are refreshments and a chance to socialize with each other and/or read through music.
We met eight times during the 2023-2024 inaugural year and shared around twenty different pieces/sets of songs with each other. Since it went so well, we are doing it again this year, starting on September 22. The next circle will be on January 26, and then there will be one most months, usually on the 3rd Sunday of the month.
As a recent Washington Post article suggested, it’s time to party like it’s 1899!
