Play Week Chamber Music provides adult musicians the opportunity to expand their musical horizons through a week of concentrated ensemble playing and outstanding coaching from our faculty.
This summer, Play Week East will be held on the campus of Monmouth University, where we have in the past held the Summer String-In workshops.
Monmouth is one mile from the beautiful northern New Jersey shore. Many of our activities take place in the auditorium within the Great Hall, a grand 130-room mansion that is a National Historic Landmark and a world-famous architectural treasure.
The six-day format provides ten ensemble coachings, special-topic sessions, and participant and faculty concerts. The workshop begins with an initial coaching session on Sunday late afternoon and runs through the participants’ concert on Friday afternoon.
Players with moderate to excellent abilities are welcome, and either individuals or pre-formed groups may apply. Acceptance is based on instrumentation needs and the date of application. While our program is primarily for string players, we can accept a few good wind players and pianists. Pre-formed groups may attend for part of a week, space permitting; tuition will be adjusted accordingly.
