About the Chamber groups needed

I Cambristi Milano, a section of AIMA Music, an amateur music association in Milan, Italy, has organized weekend chamber music workshops for over ten years. We have always tried to link the workshops to something significant in Italian musical culture, or Italian culture in general. This year we are at the  Accademia “F: Gaffurio” in charming town of Lodi near Milan.

The weekend activities include morning and afternoon sessions where each group meets with a tutor or coach for 90 minutes, then has an additional 90 minutes that the individual players can use as they wish (for example, to implement what was learned during the lesson, explore other repertoire, or just get to know each other better). Lunches are included in the tuition, and are usually a great opportunity for participants to socialize, and (hopefully) “mix and match” – form new chamber music groups that might get together after the scheduled lessons have finished for the day, or set up times to meet in the future. At the end of the workshop on Sunday afternoon, there is a recital where all of the groups can play at least one movement of the piece they worked on with the coaches.
