Como Lake Chamber Music Workshop
The Cambristi-Milano annual chamber music Workshop will take place on July 13th and 14th, 2019 at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi of Como. Amateur musicians from Italy and all over the world will be able to study and play music in Italy with renowned international musicians.
About the workshop
Tutti Cambristi-Milano is open to amateur musicians of all ages; organized groups, incomplete groups, and individual musicians may apply, but chamber ensembles must be a minimum of 3 musicians. For all groups, the working day is scheduled as follows: two three-hour sessions per day, consisting of 90-minute lessons with a tutor and 90 minutes for independent study. Saturday evening there will be a party at the end of the day so that participants can meet other people or organize an informal play-in. The weekend will end late Sunday afternoon with a concert for groups that wish to perform.

Each group will be able to work with different tutors according to the instrumentation of the piece they have chosen to work on. Lessons will be conducted in English and Italian; in some cases French and German may be possible. The tutors for Tutti Cambristi Milano come from the most prestigious musical institutions in Italy: Teatro Alla Scala (Milan), Scuola Civica di Musica Claudio Abbado (Milan), Conservatorio G.Verdi (Milan), Conservatorio G.Verdi (Como), Conservatorio Cesare Pollini (Padua), Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana (Lugano). Instructors are chosen because they love their work, and embody Ralph Waldo Emerson’s famous words: “Every artist was once an amateur.” Over the years, we have found that when professionals who truly love their work meet amateurs who love music and take delight in playing together (and playing together better!), success is guaranteed!
The Conservatorio di musica “Giuseppe Verdi” in Como is in Via Cadorna, in the heart of the city, in a fifteenth century building that was enlarged in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. From 1971 to 1973, the City of Como began to remodel the building, which had fallen into disrepair. In the spring of 2010, after work was finished, a new three-keyboard organ built by Gustavo Zanin (Codroipo, Udine) was installed. Today the Conservatory is solidly established in the territory, and has close ties with nearby universities and institutions. Its student body comes from all over the world: Italy, Switzerland, Germany, the Slovak Republic, Albania, Bulgaria, Russia, Moldava, Ukraine, Spain, South Korea, China, Mexico, Columbia, El Salvador, Jordan, and Iran. The Conservatory of Como has been a member of the European Association of Conservatories since 2009.
