Violinist Frank Song on top of Hafelekarspitze in Nordkette, north of Innsbruck, Austria
I’m a software engineer currently living and working in Toronto. When I’m not working, I get involved in all sorts of playing, anywhere from orchestra rehearsals to some casual music with friends and colleagues. Music has taken a major part in shaping my day to day activities, but most importantly, how it has shaped my perspectives in viewing, learning, and understanding the world, through meeting, playing, and most importantly, collaborating with other minds alike.
Many times a year I go on music-inspired adventures around the world, anywhere from seeing concerts to bringing my instrument to meet other musicians abroad. In between these musical feasts for the ears, is where my eyes and footsteps take over to discover what a foreign country has to offer! And of course, enjoying the local cuisine and trying to recreate them back home.
I am very lucky to call Toronto my home where there is a small but vibrant community of musicians from all walks of life, where I am privileged to have known well and played with many of them.
If you have played with me before here in Toronto, chances are the music will lead to some food and wine, anywhere from Chinese dumpling making or a simple, delicious, home cooked meal!
(With your help, of course, in my tiny kitchen that might require dedicated, human-powered fanning of the smoke alarm.)
