Boston Community Chamber Music (BCCM), founded in late 2023 by Kim Chung, is dedicated to uniting classical musicians and singers across diverse skill levels and backgrounds. Recognizing a gap in opportunities for chamber music in Boston, Kim established BCCM to address the challenge of finding ensemble partners, particularly for amateur and semi-professional musicians. Launched through Facebook, BCCM quickly gained traction as a hub for musicians seeking to explore their passion for chamber music in the Boston area.
One of BCCM’s most exciting initiatives is its regular open mics, co-hosted with Somerville Music Spaces. Suggested by BCCM member Catherine Kniaz, BCCM began hosting them in 2024, modeled after Open Classical in Dallas. These gatherings provide an informal yet high-quality performance platform for musicians to share their artistry, network, and form ensembles.
BCCM’s fifth open mic event will take place this Saturday December 7 from 3 to 6pm at Somerville Music Spaces.
The evening will feature around 10 ensembles and soloists. As BCCM plans for 2025, they aim to increase the frequency of these events to monthly, further enriching opportunities for collaboration and performance.
