About the Workshop

In 2021, Cellospeak will host 2 different virtual Studio programs via Zoom. They are structured as half-day (12:30pm – 8:00pm Friday-Sunday) weekend programs, 2 weeks apart. Both sessions will include cello technique classes and fascinating special presentations as well as streamed faculty recitals. But each session has a slightly different focus. You can attend one or both Studio programs.

These Studio programs are designed for adult amateur cellists at all levels, whether beginner, intermediate or advanced. Each Studio includes cello technique presentations and cello music for practice that meet you where you are in your cello study, and allow you to improve your skill as well as to demystify techniques that you may not yet have tried or mastered.

The Technique Studio (Friday July 16 – Sunday July 18) will focus on particular cello skills and will include troubleshooting sessions on particular pieces for different skill levels.

The Performance Studio (Friday July 30 – Sunday August 1) will focus on specific required skills and rehearsals for a virtual all-cello group performance of a special arrangement by Gary Fitzgerald of Gustav Holst’s St. Paul’s Suite – Jig. After the Studio, individual recordings submitted by participants will be compiled into a full performance and posted on our YouTube channel.
