About the Festivals

The Summer Student Festival presents students with a unique opportunity to explore chamber music by working with a professional string quartet. Directed and coached by the Skyros Quartet, the festival is an incomparable week-long musical learning experience for middle school, high school, and college students. Students participate in daily chamber music coaching and present a student performance for parents, family, and friends on the final day. Classes in theater arts and movement for musicians help each participant develop their confidence and individual expressive skills, as well as learn and practice techniques for communication and collaboration in group settings, all in a setting that is joyful and fun.

Intermediate- and advanced-level violin, viola, cello, string bass, and piano students ages 13-24 are eligible for enrollment. Successful students are capable of playing and sustaining their focus for approximately 5 hours per day, are not easily distracted, and are able to rehearse independently without a coach.
