The Middlebury Chamber Music Workshop is a quartet workshop for adult and teen amateur string players taught by visiting professional artists and coaches. Visiting artists over the past years have included cellists Peter Sanders and Miho Zaitsu, violinists and violists Arturo Delmoni, Olivia Hajioff, Marc Ramirez, Elizabeth Reid, Emily Sunderman, and Jonathan Weber. Workshop participants are placed in two chamber music groups and assigned movements of quartets to prepare in advance then polish over the weekend with the guidance of a coach. Sightreading sessions and a chamber orchestra reading with our coaches round out the weekend. On Sunday afternoon participants share their music at an informal gathering. Traveling participants and coaches are housed with local participants or stay in local hotels and AirBnBs. The cost for the workshop is $375. New participants can apply by sending an email to director Emily Sunderman including a link to a short video of them playing their instrument.
