Play Week Maryland takes place on the beautiful campus of Washington College, located in historic Chestertown on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Just a few hours’ drive from Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Philadelphia, the 120-acre rural campus houses state-of-the-art facilities, including modern dormitories and a beautiful, acoustically excellent recital hall.
The heart of our program is the schedule of twice-daily ensemble sessions, each coached for half of their duration by our first-class faculty of consummate chamber players. The week-long format provides eleven chamber music coachings, with each player assigned to two groups for the week. Opportunities are available throughout the week for special-topic sessions, large ensemble gatherings, and participant and faculty concerts. String players and pre-formed groups are welcome to apply; some slots are also available for wind players.
The workshop begins Sunday afternoon and runs through early Sunday morning. We encourage applying by March 15, as slots tend to fill quicky. Some scholarship funds are available, based on financial need; please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
