Is something missing from your musical life? Have you ever wanted something more than the usual “singer languages” of French, German and Italian? Ever wanted more exposure to Slavic Languages and culture in your life? Come on down to Christ Church Cathedral this Sunday January 19th at 3:00 for Slavic Voices and Friends! Baritone and Slavic Voices founder Ben Flanders, Soprano Laura Levoir and their esteemed collaborator, pianist Cory Battey will present a short recital featuring songs of Polish and Ukrainian composers. (Laura Levoir’s newly published “Anthology of Polish Song” will be available for pre-order. Highly recommend.) Then we can let our hair down for the second part of the event, which is a more relaxed musical salon-type model. We’ll break out the wine and cheese and sweets, and we can all chat and listen as Cincinnati’s favorite local singers and pianists regale us with songs from Eastern Europe, and as long as we’re at it, maybe the Balkans and the Caucasus as well. Here are a couple of links to the event. Hope to see you Sunday!
