Jonathan has played violin since first grade in the Houston public schools in 1990. He was never exposed to chamber music through his formal musical education. Chamber music was mentioned only in passing when he played in ensembles in high school and college. He didn't begin playing chamber music until 2006, when he was fortunate to befriend a violist professor at the University of Chicago, who hosted many evenings of reading in his home. He knew nothing of the chamber music repertoire but he was hooked!
That formative experience in chamber music led Jonathan to join the ACMP Board in order to spread the joyous experience of social music making for its own sake to others around the world.
