The sweet sounds of chamber music by Beethoven, Haydn, and more filled the halls of the Music Conservatory of Westchester on Sunday, October 23rd, as Westchester string, woodwind players, and pianists gathered for a day of coaching and music-making with the superb musicians of the Manhattan Chamber Players. Artist Director and violist Luke Fleming was joined by violinist Katie Hyun, cellist Michael Katz, pianist David Fung, and flutist Emi Ferguson – all members of this vibrant New York-based music collective. The day included four hours of coaching and rehearsal, lunch with the coaches, and informal performances by those groups wishing to share their music. The day culminated with an outstanding performance by the Manhattan Chamber Players, of the Mozart Flute Quartet in D Major and Brahms Piano Quartet No. 3 in C minor. The day earned an enthusiastic thumbs-up from everyone involved, with one participant commenting, “Our coaches are incredible – I’ve learned so much!”
Thanks to the Susan McIntosh Lloyd Award from ACMP last June, we were able to make this happen.
Plans are already being formed for the next event!
