Attention Advanced Cellists: One of ACMP’s recent grantees in our 2024 Chamber Music Workshop and Community Music grant cycle has just lost a cellist and is offering a full scholarship to an advanced adult amateur cellist who can fill in on short notice for Music Mountain Chamberfest 2024: July 4-9 in Falls Village, Connecticut.
Music Mountain would like to invite advanced adult amateur cellists to apply to Chamberfest 2024, a Music Mountain program for string players of all ages taking place in Falls Village, CT from July 4-9, including rehearsals, coachings and topic presentations from 10 am to 4 pm with the Arianna String Quartet. For those coming from far away we are offering room and board at Music Mountain.
This is a unique opportunity to fill in for the last-minute absence of a participant. Initial ensemble and repertoire assignments have just been made. The initial repertoire for the interested cellists is:
Mendelssohn String Quartet Op. 12 Mvts 1, 3
Cherubini Quartet No. 6, Mvt 2
Mozart Quartet K. 465 Dissonant Mvt 1
Full schedule, directions and other details on the Music Mountain website.
Interested cellists are asked to please submit an application using the Google Form on the website ASAP.
The accepted cellist will receive a full tuition scholarship (normally $750, including lunch) and, if it is not a commuting artist, Music Mountain can offer shared room accommodation free of charge. The selected participant will be asked to pay $250 towards meals (breakfast, dinner and snacks).
Music Mountain was founded in 1930 and presents weekend concerts from June through September. Chamberfest participants are invited to attend all events during the program, including Painting Music, a Jazz at Music Mountain Concert featuring Maucha Adnet and Duduka da Fonseca, who sold out Gordon Hall last year, a Poetry Reading by Connecticut’s poet laureate Antoinette Brim-Bell, and a concert by Chamberfest faculty, the Arianna String Quartet.
Music Mountain is a peaceful festival with a rich history, where making music with friends feels natural. Chamberfest faculty, the Arianna String Quartet are expert teachers and performers. As demonstrated in previous Chamberfests, they have a special gift for working with students of all ages and levels, motivating everyone to do their best and teaching very effectively while creating a wonderful atmosphere.
