The DC Chamber Musicians kicked off their 2019-20 season at a great new venue, Western Presbyterian Church in Foggy Bottom, with a master class and play-in sessions. It was an exciting opportunity to play, watch, listen, and enjoy. The master class held mid-October was taught by Stephen Key, oboist for The New Orchestra of Washington. The players and repertoire are below.
Eugene Bozza Trois pièces pour une musique de nuit
Ellen Ensel, Flute · Andrea Schewe, Oboe · Kimberly Morgan, Clarinet · Kathleen Emery, Bassoon
Mikhail Glinka, Trio pathétique
Quodlibet Trio: Kwame Lewis, Clarinet · Jon Brvenik, Cello · Susan Alexander, Piano
You can watch a recording of the masterclass here.
Concurrently with the masterclass, DC Chamber Musicians hosted a play-in where 30 musicians came together. There were 3 sessions- with musicians switching to a new ensemble each session, keeping the energy flowing as well as allowing for intermingling.
Production and livestream of the master classes is made possible, in part, with support from ACMP Associated Chamber Music Players.
