Happy Halloween! “From the Top” Young Musicians share some Scary Fun
Three From the Top musicians have some fun for Halloween in this Stranger Strings video, a mashup of the theme from the Netflix series “Stranger Things” and the iconic track “Thriller” by Michael Jackson.
The players are Henry Ayanna (14), Eleanor Markey (12), and Hannah Ryu (16). Eleanor Markey is a member of Trio Giocoso, the 2017 ACMP Young Ensemble. From the Top’s September 30 concert featuring Trio Gocoso and sponsored by ACMP will be aired national the first week in January 2018. See Oct 2, 2017 News in Brief article for more information.

The Daraja Music Initiative: 15 years of Music and Conservation in Tanzania
Since 2017, ACMP member clarinetist and nonprofit leader Alexys Bush has traveled to Tanzania, Africa where she teaches general music and clarinet for the Daraja Music Initiative (DMI), for whom she serves as Assistant Director. DMI bridges music education and the conservation of Tanzania's national tree - the African Blackwood, also known as ebony - used to make clarinets, oboes, piccolos, and some string fingerboards.
