The Turquoise Quartet, Left to Right: Robin Casey, Paris Milane, Veronika Alter and Aldo Ruiz-Alonso
ACMP’s second online master class with the Kronos Quartet on its 50 for the Future repertoire was a huge success!
Congratulations to all three quartets who played so beautifully – The Turquoise Quartet (above), and the Kidjo Quartet and Architect Quartet (pictured below.)
The video of the master class is now online! Hear these three daring groups take on brand new repertoire by West African composers Angélique Kidjo and Fodé Lassana Diabaté and Chinese composer and pipa virtuoso Wu Man, and learn from the insights from the players who commissioned these new works.
It’s not every day that you get to hear SAXOPHONES on a string quartet master class! But the Florida-based Architect Quartet (Gavin Martellotti, Ruben Gedlaman, Jack Beatenhead, and Kedrick Adams) took on the saxophone arrangement of Sunjata’s Time by Fodé Lassana Diabaté.
And the first group to perform on the class was the newly minted “Kidjo Quartet” featuring two ACMP Board members on violin (Jonathan Wang and Peter Aupperle), alongside long-time ACMP member cellist Evan Dunnell and violist Elliot Isaacson.
