Register now to watch ACMP’s first masterclass with the Kronos Quartet on selections from their newly commissioned works from The Kronos Learning Repertoire: 50 for the Future. In keeping with the creativity and innovation we have all come to expect from the Kronos Quartet over the years, 50 for the Future is a unique way to celebrate the quartet’s 50th Anniversary – commissioning 50 composers of all stylistic and cultural backgrounds to write new short works specifically with the goal of helping student and adult amateur musicians learn the skills needed to practice and perform adventurous repertoire from the 20th and 21st centuries.
The class will take place on Zoom on Saturday, November 12 from 2pm Eastern to 5pm Eastern. Space is limited, so please make only one reservation per computer you and your friends and family will be tuning in from.
We have three groups participating so far – the SUNY New Paltz String Quartet playing Testimony by Charlton Singleton, and two other groups with repertoire still TBA. Please keep checking this article for details.
As part of its 50 for the Future project, Kronos is making the scores and parts for all of the pieces available to download for free from the 50 for the Future Online Library. There are also recordings of each piece and enlightening interviews with the composers.
Be sure to download scores for the Singleton and the other two works, once we announce them, to follow along during the class.
I look forward to seeing many of you on Saturday, November 12. And please save the date for the second class on Saturday, April 15.
If you would like to play for the April class, choose a piece first, and sign up here.
