I’m on a business trip in Washington, DC, sitting in my hotel room scrolling on my phone. Let’s take a peek at the new ACMP app Timbre. I’ll let it use my location.
Wait a minute! Is that a pianist near me? OH! And she’s looking for violists to play Brahms sonatas? Let me contact her right now and see if she’s up for sonatas this afternoon before I have to head back home.
[One day later, back in the Bronx]
I see that there’s Paris Milane right here in the Bronx, who plays both violin and viola. Maybe she wants to play trios with me and the Bronx-based bassist Hilliard Greene. Let me click on the heart icon to save each of their profiles for later, so I know who to invite to my next local chamber music party.
Yes – all of these possibilities will be right in your pocket with ACMP’s new Timbre app…
We are thrilled to give you a sneak peak at this new and exciting way to interface with the ACMP directory, and on Valentine’s Day, at that!
With the new app, you will have the option of searching for players in ACMP’s Directory of Chamber Musicians near your current location, or if you prefer not to let the app know where you are, you can simply thumb-type your location, just like in the website.
We don’t quite yet have enough members or the technology to track all the other players you might be looking for and tell you which viola players are literally sitting right next to you in your favorite café…maybe some day!
But, the new app will be a fun, visual and more immediate way to find other ACMP members while you’re casually scrolling on your phone.
You are going to LOVE finding chamber music partners in this new way. And if you show your love to ACMP with a donation of any size during the month of February, we will give you exclusive first access to Timbre next month, and the opportunity to give us feedback before we release it to the world at large. An added plus: if you donate to ACMP in February, we will honor you with a special badge on your profile in the new app!
SHOW ACMP SOME LOVE THIS FEBRUARY
Happy Valentine’s Day – and here’s to a whole new way of finding musical friends.
