Seventh Annual ACMP Worldwide Play-In Reports, 2019
Earlier this month, players from around the world came together to celebrate music with friends, new and old, during the ACMP Worldwide Play-In Weekend. March 2nd and 3rd were filled with so much music, spilling over to other days, with some Play-ins happening throughout the month. U.S. play-ins popped up in Liberty Center, OH; Seattle, WA; Greenlawn, NY; San Diego, Santa Monica, and Oakland CA; Philadelphia, PA; Louisville, KY; Denver, CO; Atlanta, GA; West Newton, MA; Keene, NH; Estero, FL; Salem, Oregon; Boulder, CO; Vernon, CT; Portland, OR; Blacksburg, VA; Huntington, LI; Providence, RI, among others. International events included Piazz San Marco, Milano, Toronto, Canada, and East Perth and Camberra, Australia. There was a lot of good food to be had and even better company during ACMP’s seventh annual Worldwide Play-in weekend!

The Daraja Music Initiative: 15 years of Music and Conservation in Tanzania
Since 2017, ACMP member clarinetist and nonprofit leader Alexys Bush has traveled to Tanzania, Africa where she teaches general music and clarinet for the Daraja Music Initiative (DMI), for whom she serves as Assistant Director. DMI bridges music education and the conservation of Tanzania's national tree - the African Blackwood, also known as ebony - used to make clarinets, oboes, piccolos, and some string fingerboards.
