The Trouville-sur-Mer chamber music workshop was a success this year. Twenty-two participants came from various parts of France and abroad. Ages ranged from 11 to 82. The work went smoothly, and the trainees were able to show off the benefits of their work in two well- attended concerts. We welcomed a number of new participants, including a quartet from Lille, four women who regularly work with some of the great names in chamber music. They thoroughly enjoyed the course, both musically and on a personal level. The eldest (86) showed rare enthusiasm and hard dedication.
At every concert and event, we mention ACMP, which often appeals to participants and audiences alike. ACMP’s support enables us to establish our reputation and visibility in the region.
We’re also particularly pleased to be reaching out more and more to young people:
We have a new 11-year-old violinist from a conservatory in Paris, who intends to bring some of his conservatory friends (cellist and pianist) with him next year. We have also seen an exceptional number of children and young people in attendance at the concerts, some of whom are also interested in taking part in the workshop. Finally, two very talented young Germans living in Munich have already planned to make the trip to be present next year.
In terms of repertoire, there were plenty of challenges to be met, with masterpieces from the repertoire (quartets by D. Shostakovich, R. Schumann, W.A. Mozart, F. Schubert’s Trout … ) . The work was not without its obstacles, but as is often the case, the difficulties brought out the best in everyone, and developed listening skills, kindness and mutual support.
The photo below bears witness to the unique atmosphere of this annual musical event!
