On Saturday March 3, the first day of ACMP’s Worldwide Play-in Weekend, AIMA (The Italian Association of Amateur Musicians), in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the City of Milan, is dedicating a special day to those who “live” music – people who are more than spectators but who love to play!
AIMA will present a day of roundtables exploring the role of amateur music in society, the relationship with the public and professionals, adult education and amateur institutions in the world and in Europe. ACMP Board Member and Chair of ACMP’s International Ambassadors Council Floryse Bel Bennett joins representatives from the European Orchestra Federation, I Cambristi Europa, and the Federation of Amateur Orchestras in a panel discussion entitled Milan, Europe and the World.
The day of exploration and celebration continues with an open concert at 8:30pm – a collective improvisation led by trumpeter, director and composer Giovanni Falzone, one of the most famous protagonists of Italian and European jazz. All players are invited to participate. A free workshop with Giovanni Falzoneto to prepare the pieces for the evening concert is offered from 10 am to 1 pm in Viale Sarca 336, Building 12.
Event Details: Saturday 3 March 2018, starting at 3:30pm; open concert, 8:30pm.
