ACMP Foundation has awarded a total of $193,875 USD in its 2023 fiscal year to date, distributed over four grants programs.

Of this, we gave $36,965 to organizations and individuals outside the United States. This accounts for 19% of ACMP’s total grant spending – almost on a par with the demographics of our membership, which is 20% international.

Micro-Grants

ACMP’s offers three micro-grant programs, supporting Play-Ins, informal concerts (Just Play) and private chamber music coaching for ACMP-member ensembles (Home Coaching.)

Micro-grants are evaluated on a rolling basis, and are still ongoing as our fiscal year ends on July 31, 2023.

Play-In grants are awarded to organizations and individuals in support of big public Play-Ins, which are key to ACMP’s mission of chamber music for pleasure.

Chamber Music Workshop and Community Music Grants

ACMP’s signature grant program is Chamber Music Workshop and Community Music, which accounted for 89% of our grants spending this year. In the 2023 cycle, we received 167 applications and were able to fund 67% (112.)

This year’s grantees hailed from 14 countries: Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Morocco, Netherlands, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. 19% of funding was awarded to workshops and community music programs outside the United States.

ACMP is particularly committed to seeding brand new chamber music workshop and community music initiatives. 25 of our 117 grantees (21%) received funding from ACMP to build a new program from the ground up.

As the only foundation in the world with a grants program benefiting amateur chamber music, ACMP’s primary focus is on programs benefiting adult amateurs.

Adults only (over 18): $89,900 (51%)

Intergenerational (adults and youth): $41,000 (24%)

Youth (under 18): $43,000 (25%)

The 2024 Chamber Music Workshop and Community Music cycle opens on October 15, with a deadline of January 7, 2025.

A generous bequest from Clinton B. Ford in 1992 formed the basis of ACMP’s Endowment, which, alongside regular individual contributions and further charitable bequests, supports the world’s only grants program for amateur chamber music.
